On Monday 25 August, Kishoge Community College in Lucan, West Dublin opened its doors for the first time. Kishoge CC will operate under the patronage of Dublin & Dún Laoghaire ETB in formal partnership with Educate Together. It will be based in temporary premises on Adamstown Avenue, Lucan – the site of Esker Educate Together National School, which is moving to a new building on Esker Lane this week.
Kishoge Community College is one of three new second-level schools opening in Ireland this year in which in Educate Together is involved as patron, joint patron or partner. Ballymakenny College in Drogheda, Co. Louth, opened on Friday 22 August and Hansfield Educate Together Secondary School, Dublin 15, of which Educate Together is sole patron, will be formally opened on Tuesday 26 August.
Niall Hare, Principal of Kishoge CC, said: "Kishoge Community College will provide an inclusive, co-educational and multi-denominational school experience with the most modern facilities and the highest educational standards. Using innovative approaches to teaching and learning, our ethos will be to promote the formation of life skills which enable young people to meet their full potential in society.”
Addressing the 53 new first-year students of Kishoge CC, Paul Rowe, CEO of Educate Together said: "Educate Together and DDLETB recognise that for the 21st century student, learning how to learn, creativity and innovation skills are critical to future success in life and work. We are determined that this will be an outstanding and wonderful college. Come in each day ready to make a difference. Realise that no education system, no curriculum, no exam regime can put a limit to what you can achieve or find out. You and your children have to solve the problems of sustainable prosperity in our country, our communities, our continent our world."
