From Esker ETNS School Principal Colette Kavanagh:
I am devastated and heartbroken to report the death of our teacher Paul Kilgarriff who died last Sunday night following a tragic accident on holidays in Austria. Paul has been with our school since 2007, two months after we opened, and was a much loved and respected colleague and teacher. As a founder member of our staff Paul has been instrumental in building our school to be the wonderful, warm school that it is. His kindness and care for each and every child in his class, present and past, has been exemplary and his support for his teaching colleagues as a language support teacher and a class teacher has been greatly valued.
We will miss Paul for his wonderful sense of humour and lively spirit in the classroom and the staffroom. The staff, the parents, the Board of Management, the PTA and not least the children are extremely saddened by his untimely death. We all extend our deepest sympathy to his partner, family and friends and all those who knew and loved Paul as we did.
