Public meetings for parents to be held in Carrigaline and Midleton
Educate Together is delighted to confirm that it will formally apply to open the two new second-level schools announced for Cork recently by the Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairi Quinn TD. It will host public information meetings for parents in Carrigaline Community Complex and at Midleton Rugby Club both at 8pm on Wednesday, June 19th.
The two schools announced by the Minister, located in Carrigaline and Midleton/Carrigtwohill, will open in September 2016. Commenting on the news Midleton resident and Educate Together parent, Shirley O'Shea said “This is a wonderful opportunity for parents in Midleton. As parents we look forward to engaging with other families in the area to seek their support for the development of an Educate Together Second-level school for all our children”.
Carrigaline School parent and Board of Management member, Eric Hurley is also excited by the news, “Our primary school reaches a major milestone next September when we move to our new building. It would be a dream come true if the large numbers of pupils in our primary school could continue their education in an Educate Together Second-level school on completion of their primary education”.
Educate Together already has successful and expanding primary schools in both Carrigaline and Midleton. Opening second-level schools in both areas is the natural next step in the further development of the model in Cork. Regional Development Officer for Educate Together, Niall Wall explains “Just like our primary schools, our second-level schools place the student – your child – at their centre. We aim to create vibrant, welcoming school communities to which every student feels a real sense of belonging. We earnestly hope that families in Cork will be happy to express their interest and support for both schools and would direct them to the Educate Together website.
Educate Together, in association with local parents, is hosting two information meetings for parents next Wednesday June 19th in both Carrigaline and Midleton. There will be guest speakers from Educate Together and all are welcome, details as follows:
