Permanent accommodation to become a reality for the Dublin 7 ETNS community
We are welcoming news from the Department of Education and Skills that additional funding is to be allocated to the school-building programme next year.
The welcome news was made as part of as part of a €2.25 billion infrastructure project announced by the government today. The stimulus package will see an investment in schools, primary healthcare facilities, national roads and other labour-intensive sectors of the economy.
In particular, we welcome the announcement that the Grangerogman development is to go ahead, which will rationalise the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) into one campus, and provide a permanent on-site home for Dublin 7 Educate Together National School. In 2009, Dublin 7 Educate Together NS relocated to temporary accommodation on the Grangegorman site.
Paul Rowe, Chief Executive Officer of Educate Together, welcomed the decision, which he said ensured that the Dublin 7 school’s permanent accommodation plans on the site would be released in the near future.

This is great news for the Dublin 7 Educate Together school community. It also raises the possibility of further development of Educate Together second-level provision in the city. The centralisation of DIT at one major site may enable space to be made to accommodate the very significant number of parents seeking second-level provision in Dublin city, which is not currently under consideration for new second-level school openings.
