Educate Together is delighted to offer congratulations to Ardee Educate Together National School, one of 58 Educate Together Schools nationwide, on winning the 2010 Supervalu TidyTowns School Award.
Commenting on the award Educate Together Chief Executive Paul Rowe said ‘Ardee Educate Together has thrilled us all with this success. All our schools are founded on strong community involvement in their management and operation. A TidyTowns award is one of the country’s top accolades for community pride and spirit. Well done to all involved, we are very proud of you’.
School Principal Ann Middleton, speaking at the awards ceremony spoke of her school’s long interest in environmental issues. ‘This is a great day for our school; teachers, pupils and parents – all helped make this happen. Earlier this year we won the Louth County Authorities Primary Schools Environment Award and so decided to enter the TidyTowns. We are all absolutely thrilled to have won’.
Ardee National School came under the patronage of Educate Together in 2002 and the school has a proud history of environmental awareness. One of its pupils, Lana Jordan won Environmentalist of the Year and Ann Middleton also won the Most Dedicated Teacher Award at the Louth County Awards. The school itself is part of the Green School programme for which it has been awarded platinum status for the last number of years.
Educate Together is the national representative body for Ireland’s multidenominational schools. It has 58 schools located nationwide, the newest opening in Swords and Portlaoise this September. The schools are open to all and have a strong student focus by teaching through equality of esteem. Educate Together schools also encourage parental and community involvement in all aspects of school life.
