Ethical Education NEWSletter: A weekly resource for global citizenship and media literacy

Ciara McMackin and Nadja Friemuth-Cassidy, Educate Together Ethical Education Community of Practice.

The Ethical Education Community of Practice is proud to present the “Ethical Education NEWSletter” each week—a dynamic, interactive resource designed to engage both students and teachers. Every edition features three stories from around the world, with accompanying vocabulary, critical questions, and activities, all aimed at boosting media literacy and fostering active global citizenship in classrooms.

Produced in collaboration with RTÉ’s World Report programme, this NEWSletter encourages teachers and students to listen to real-world stories via the RTÉ Radio Player, reflecting on current global events before choosing tasks to complete.

The flexibility of the NEWSletter allows it to be adapted to any classroom—teachers can dedicate as much or as little lesson time as they wish. It has become a popular tool in many schools, especially among senior students, for its engaging and thought-provoking content.

To receive the newsletter weekly, get in touch with Ciara McMackin (ciaramcmackin@kishogecc.ie) and/or Nadja Friemuth-Cassidy (nadja.friemuth-cassidy@clonturkcc.cdetb.ie), the current producers. All issues will also be featured on the newly upgraded Educate Together’s e-Learning platform.

Empower your students with global awareness and critical thinking through the Ethical Education NEWSletter!
