Board of management news

Alison O’Neil, Volunteer Officer

Welcome!

Welcome back to your school’s board of management for the new school year.  Our primary school boards are starting into the second year of a four-year term.  Best wishes to all who have remained in their positions on our school boards of management and a very warm welcome to any new members who have joined.  We hope that your experience on a school board of management will be beneficial to you, and we thank you for volunteering.

Most of our ETB partner post-primary school boards will re-constitute this year due to change of local authority nominees following recent local government elections.  We will also see six of our 17 Voluntary Secondary School boards change this October.  Thank you to all our outgoing nominees for their dedication and commitment to Educate Together and thank you for the work you have done to support our principals and school leaders in managing our schools.  Our unique network would not be what it is without the work of our volunteers.  A big thanks also to those staying on-your continued volunteering is much appreciated and needed.

Training

As always, we strongly encourage all our board of management members to avail of training.  Please visit our website here to book onto our training modules over the next few months.

Primary School Board of Management Training

Please note that redevelopment of the primary school board of management training is still being undertaken by the primary management bodies.  Until such a time as all these re-developed modules are made available to us, we will continue to deliver an updated version of the previous training module.

“Our Board of Management”

A re-developed module is now available known as “Our Board of Management” to replace the old “Board as a Corporate Entity” module, which was the previous introduction to boards of management for all members of primary school boards.  This module will be offered at in-person events at some of our schools in Cork, Galway, and Limerick over the coming months.  Please consider attending, it is a great opportunity to meet members from other Educate Together school boards of management in your region. You can register here.

ETSS Board of Management Training

Please note that the annual JMB board of management training events are now available on the JMB website.  The session on Saturday 23rd November at the Talbot Hotel, Stillorgan, Co. Dublin, will have a session on Educate Together ethos for boards of management.  Please consider attending this session if you are attending JMB training.

Best wishes to all our board of management members for the academic year ahead.
