Educate Together is delighted to have been awarded patronage of a new primary school to open in the Sallynoggin / Killiney / Dun Laoghaire area of Dublin this September 2021. The patronage of this school was decided through the Department of Education’s Online Patronage Process Survey.
Educate Together has over 40 years of experience of providing a unique, inclusive and equality-based primary school model. In addition, Educate Together has considerable experience of establishing new schools, having opened 27 new primary and 19 new second-level schools over the past seven years.
Speaking on behalf of Educate Together, CEO, Dr Emer Nowlan said:
“This latest selection process has again demonstrated the growing demand for Educate Together schools in communities all over the country. We are particularly delighted for the local families and advocates who have worked hard to achieve this result. We look forward to working with the Department of Education and the local community to undertake the work required now to establish this much needed new school.”
Local parent Abigail Freeman said:
“I’m delighted that we’ll have a new primary school in the Killiney – Sallynoggin community. Many local families campaigned hard for this school, and it’s great to see that it will be an Educate Together school. There has been a huge unmet demand for democratically run and equality-based school places in the area; knowing that the opportunity to learn in an Educate Together school will now be available for more children is wonderful”
Enrolments for the school will open during the first week in March. A principal will also be recruited in the coming weeks. Accommodation for the school is currently being sourced by the Department of Education.
