Educate Together is delighted to announce that Aoife Kelly Gibson has been appointed as Principal of Malahide / Portmarnock Educate Together Secondary School. Originally from Malahide, Aoife brings with her over twenty years of experience in second-level and further education. Aoife began her teaching career in Pobalscoil Neasain, Baldoyle, where she taught French for six years. She then joined the City of Dublin Education and Training Board (CDETB) and has worked there for eighteen years. During this time, Aoife has worked in Coláiste Dhúlaigh, Coolock and Ringsend College, Ringsend.
Aoife is currently the Principal in Larkin Community College in Dublin, a progressive second level school with a co educational setting and diverse cultural and religious mix.
The student voice is integral to Aoife's vision of education. Her aim is to provide a setting where students develop not only in their academic ability but also their life skills. She sees her role as encouraging students to become participants in their learning journey and enabling them to apply critical thinking, entrepreneurial and innovative skills in preparation for their future.
Aoife envisages Malahide/Portmarnock Educate Together Secondary School as fostering a collaborative and inclusive atmosphere between students, parents, staff and the Board of Management. Within this vision is a dynamic Junior and Senior cycle. Aoife has been an advocate of extra curricular activity through arts education, theatre, citizenship and sport. She feels that allowing students to explore and develop all of their skills in many different areas has an overall positive effect on their progression.

This school is the culmination of dedicated work on the part of parents and Educate Together to provide a new educational experience for young people in the area'
