Enrolments for Junior Infants starting school in 2017 will open on Monday 22 May for Dublin’s newest Educate Together national school. Dún Laoghaire ETNS will open its doors to its first cohort of Junior Infants this September.
Said Paddy Monahan, school manager:
'Dún Laoghaire ETNS will cater for children in Junior Infants only initially and will grow each year until it ultimately caters for Junior Infants to Sixth Class. Interested parents living within the Dún Laoghaire catchment area as defined by the Department of Education should log onto our website on Monday morning to enrol their child. I’m delighted to be involved in the establishment of this new school community and would like to thank all the parent volunteers that helped Educate Together’s application for patronage.'
According to Department of Education guidelines first priority will be given to children within the catchment area, followed by children outside the catchment area whose application is submitted before the closing date of Monday 12 June. Applications received after the closing date will be offered places on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
The new school is the result of a six-week process that was run over the Christmas and New Year period during which prospective patrons gathered evidence of parental preference as to what patron would run the new primary school.
Principal recruitment is currently underway. Accommodation for the school has not yet been announced by the Department of Education and Skills. Parents who signed an Expression of Interest form during the process will receive enrolment information in the coming week. More information here.
