On Monday the 21 of November Newbridge ETNS participated in a SARI workshop. SARI stands for Sports Against Racism Ireland.
The children also learned that FARE stands for Football Against Racism Europe. Two wonderful people, Abdul and Kerry came to school to show students the importance of equality for everyone. They taught them about sexism, racism and homophobia. They learned how it feels to be discriminated against and how easy it is to discriminate without realising it. Through playing games of handball and soccer the children saw and felt what it was like to exclude others and be excluded and learned a valuable lesson that we are all equal, that there is only one race and that’s the human race.
The SARI workshop was great to learn about discrimination while being active and playing games.
