Educate Together is delighted to announce that Emer Hoy has been appointed as the first principal teacher in Malahide/Portmarnock Educate Together National School.
Emer is coming from Ballinteer Educate Together, where she has been the Deputy Principal and Junior Infant teacher. Prior to working in Ballinteer, Emer was the Head, and Deputy Principal of Sutton Park Junior School.
The education of the whole child is central to her beliefs and her aim for Malahide/Portmarnock ETNS is that it will be a safe, happy, respectful environment where all children are challenged, to the best of their ability, in the way they think, act and learn. Emer has a passion for innovative learning; continuously integrating new methodologies into her teaching. Having been a strong advocate for the use of information technology, Emer has encouraged many teachers to integrate technology in their teaching. Emer also cultivates an appreciation of the arts (music, drama, visual arts and dance) and has organised many enriching learning experiences for the children she has worked with over the years.
Emer said "I am delighted to take up this position in Malahide/Portmarnock Educate Together National School as I firmly believe that the Educate Together ethos meets the needs of all of our children. This is a very special time in the life of Malahide/Portmarnock Educate Together National School and it is a privilege to be the first principal. I enjoy building positive relationships with children, parents and staff and I am looking forward to working together with all of the stakeholders on the establishment and development of this new school."
The school will open in temporary accommodation provided by Holywell ETNS in Swords this September 2014. Longer term accommodation options are being advanced by the Department. It is Educate Together's intention to work closely with all stakeholders, parents, local and national politicians, the local authority and the Department to ensure that the school is permanently located in an area that will be accessible and convenient to those who wish to access the school from Malahide and Portmarnock.
