Minister of Education and Skills Jan O'Sullivan visited Rochestown Educate Together National School on Friday. Principal Alan Sheehan tells us about the visit.
'Rochestown Educate Together NS was delighted to welcome the Minister for Education and Skills, Ms. Jan O'Sullivan, TD last Friday, 27 March. The Minister was delighted to meet our pupils and staff. She was also very supportive of our new and rapidly growing school. The pupils were thrilled to meet such an important person and were delighted to demonstrate their learning.
The children read the Minister one of the books that they had written for World Book Day. Minister O'Sullivan was very impressed. She told the pupils that her favourite book was 'Moby Dick'.
Afterwards, the pupils presented the Minister with copies of our World Book Day Books, thank you cards and a bouquet of daffodils. The children planted these daffodils in the school garden in October and watched them grow over the past number of months. They were delighted to be able to present them to the Minister.
Everyone at Rochestown ETNS would like to thank Minister O'Sullivan and her advisors for visiting our school. We would also like to thank Deputy Ciarán Lynch and Councillor Deirdre Forde for attending as well.'
