Each school Board of Management is composed of a teacher nominee elected by the teaching staff of their school. But did you know that many Educate Together teachers volunteer to be a board member in a different Educate Together school?
Educate Together is always looking for nominees for school boards and we’ve noticed an increase in the numbers of teachers who are members of boards of other schools, sometimes swapping primary for secondary and vice-versa. The feedback is that it gives the teachers a different perspective and an experience of how a board works. Sometimes, the motivation is a desire to include board experience on a CV, sometimes it’s to gain a deeper understanding of the education process.
